Pursuant to the recent Presidential Proclamation which amends the prior executive orders issued, nationals of certain countries are subject to certain visa restrictions. These restrictions impact the ability of non-immigrants or immigrants seeking visas to enter the United States. Note that there is a limited period until October 18, for nationals of Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia to apply for a waiver from the travel ban if they can demonstrate “close family ties” or a bona fide relationship with a US entity. With regard to the latter, this might include a foreign national who has previously been admitted to the US to work, study, etc. and is merely seeking to re-enter the US to resume such activity such that denying re-entry would impair that activity. Again, for nationals of these countries, they must seek a visa by October 18, 2017, when this limited waiver will expire.
