Department of Homeland Security Continues to Extend Border Blocking Entry to Asylum Seekers at the Border

The Administration has virtually shut down the southern border for reasons purportedly relating to the public health response due to COVID-19. The Administration has forced tens of thousands of individuals to return to dangerous conditions in Mexico due to the “migrant protection protocols.” While others are still allowed to travel for “common essential purposes,” currently asylum seekers claiming violent persecution for religious, political reasons, etc. are not being allowed to enter the United States. Travel Restrictions: Note that the CDC order has extended the suspension of entry of individuals in Canada and Mexico.
